Does converting an image reduce its quality?

Converting to PNG keeps the image exactly as it is. Converting to JPG or WebP uses lossy compression, controlled by the quality slider; at 85–90% the difference is very hard to see. No conversion can restore detail that an earlier lossy save already removed.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with white when you convert to JPG.

Are my images uploaded?

No. All conversion happens inside your browser, so your images never leave your device.
