About Passport Photo Requirements
Every country has specific requirements for passport and visa photos. Getting rejected for a non-compliant photo is frustrating and delays your application. This tool helps you create photos that meet exact specifications without paying for expensive services.
How to Use This Tool
- Select the document type (US Passport, USCIS, UK, EU, etc.)
- Upload a front-facing photo taken against a plain background
- Adjust the crop area โ yellow guide lines show where the top of your head should be
- Click "Generate Passport Photo" to create the correctly sized image
- Optionally generate a printable sheet with multiple copies for home or pharmacy printing
US Passport & USCIS Photo Requirements
- Size: 2x2 inches (51x51 mm), minimum 600x600 pixels
- Background: Plain white or off-white
- Head size: Head height must be between 1 inch and 1-3/8 inches (50-69% of frame)
- Expression: Neutral expression with both eyes open
- Recency: Taken within the last 6 months
- Glasses: No glasses (since 2016)
Tips for a Good Passport Photo
- Use natural, even lighting โ avoid harsh shadows on your face
- Stand in front of a plain white wall or hang a white sheet behind you
- Look directly at the camera with a neutral expression
- Ensure the photo is sharp and in focus
- Do not wear head coverings unless for religious reasons
Printing Your Photos
After generating your passport photo, use the "Generate Printable Sheet" option to create a page with multiple copies. Print on glossy photo paper at a pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens) or at home on a photo printer. Select the paper size that matches your printer or the pharmacy's standard print sizes.
